5.SEARCHING FOR ALASKA

FRIDAY 25TH OF JUNE-WE AREout to sea heading north for whittier, with a stop at COLLEGE FIORD.

mom and I slept in a bit(considering the last 5 mornings) and went to a cooking demo and tour of the kitchen.  the head chef and the director of the kitchen had a cooking duel on stage-pretty funny.  i really wanted to go on the kitchen tour after, but by then my nose was running like a faucet and i was feeling poorly and went and layed down.  even skipped lunch.
by 4 in the afternoon we started thru College Fiord.  lots more glaciers-cold and beautiful.

as you can see i am indoors.  i have a full blown cold and decided not to venture out in the cold

this one is a double glacier.

as we were leaving college fiord we saw 3-4 pods of humpback whales.  so i guess it wasn't the last whales we saw on our trip.
on to whittier................

sat. morn we arrived in whittier and left the ship Very Early and boarded the train to DENALI.
THE TRAIN WAS FUN AND RELAXING
we sat up front in our coach.  the dinning and bathrooms were blow and we sat up high in the bubble or sky dome.  took lots of pictures.  we had a naturalist on the train also.  we had lunch below in the dining room and i had caribou chili nachos.

we then caught a bus coach to the Denali Princess lodge.  we each had a queen bed and soft, too.  as nice as the state room was on the ship, we had twin beds.

  1. I didn't realize you had a train ride as part of this trip. Cool!
